Cruel Act Of Wildlife Brutality At South Gippsland Campground

Five wombats have been found dead at a heavily vandalised camping area in South Gippsland.

Authorities have labelled the disturbing scene at Turtons Creek as a disgraceful act. There was also a burnt picnic table, spray painted trees, dumped rubbish and a sign destroyed by a shotgun.

Forest Fire Management Victoria believe the wombats were either shot or run over by a four wheel drive and have described this incident as disturbing.

It's believed the damage was done sometime on June 29 or 30.

Environmental authorities are asking South Gippslanders with any information to come forward.
