The Baw Baw Shire Council has unanimously rejected a proposal to construct a new 24-hour service station in Yarragon at this week’s council meeting.

Under the proposal, the service station on Princes Highway would have had 2 fast food restaurants on the site.

A petition with 1,112 signatures objecting to the proposal was submitted to the council in the lead up to the meeting, with residents and shop owners concerned about the impact to businesses in Yarragon, while also diminishing the town's overall appeal.
