Latrobe Valley's largest health and community organisations are calling for the state government to build a new residential drug rehabilitation centre in the region.
$9.7 million has been set out by Labor to purchase land for a new 18-bed facility, and the consortium believes the rehab centre should be in the Latrobe Valley rather than elsewhere in Gippsland.
The Latrobe Health Assembly, Latrobe Regional Hospital and the Latrobe Community Health Service all stood in unison yesterday saying community support for the project is overwhelming.
