Auditor General Reveals V/Line Needs Millions Of Dollars In Maintenance Work Done Warragul Railway Station

Victoria's Auditor General has reported there's half a billion dollars worth of maintenance work needed on the V/Line network.

The audit has also shown an 88% increase to the number of passengers carried during the 2015-16 period - a total of 18 million people, which is well beyond the regional train operator's expectations.

Tabled in State Parliament yesterday, the Auditor General revealed that challenges faced over the past decade have not been dealt with successfully; such as cancellations, pressure to deliver cost savings, passenger overcrowding, failure to activate boom gates, and failure to get trains to the Metro boundary in time.

That said, the report does admit V/Line now has the appropriate knowledge required to deal with operational and performance issues.
