Latrobe City Council has again voted to defer making a decision on the proposed asbestos landfill site at the Morwell Power Station.

At the meeting last night, Councillors voted unanimously to explore the purchasing of land near where the Hazelwood Power Station will be disposed of, so the asbestos is further away from town.

This comes after Energy Brix proposed to store 10,000 cubic metres of asbestos from the demolition of the power station in the ground instead of transporting it away from the region - which risks exposure to residents.
