Archaeologists and students will be working together in Inverloch next month to conduct a comprehensive recording of the 150 year old shipwreck Amazon.

The Amazon cargo ship washed up on the beach in December 1863 after a storm in Bass Strait.

The project will provide a unique opportunity to shed light on what life was like on board the 19th century vessel, and assist with planning for the future management of the site.

Drones and 3D modelling will help the team to map out and identify what lies beneath the sand.
