Hollywood could be coming to the Far North

Hello Hemsworths!

Today Mulgrave MP Curtis Pitt is holding a round table meeting with Screen Queensland to discuss potentially building a multi million dollar sound stage here in the Far North to attract film and television projects. Potential sites are The old Masters Building and the old Bunnings building in Portsmith.

Mr Pitt also last year flew to the US to meet with Paramount pictures to pitch the idea of more Hollywood films in the Far North. He told The Cairns Post “It seems the vision I have for a world-class movie sound stage for Cairns is shared by plenty of industry and community stakeholders who’ve reached out and are keen to contribute.”

He said the potential for the Far North to develop as a screen hub, as part of growing the $1 billion industry statewide was “very real.”

Fools Gold featuring Matthew Mcconaughey and Kate Hudson was filmed here in 2008 and I am keen to see more shirtless Hollywood hunks on our beaches!
