Police investigations continue into two crashes in Cairns.

A 21-year-old Brinsmead man has died after coming off his dirt bike at a Smithfield sand track while riding with a mate.

Officers are looking at inexperience as being a possible cause.

It's believed the young man lost control of his bike during a turn causing his front wheel to bite the sand.

Two kids were taken to hospital following a two car crash in Edge Hill yesterday; they've since been released but a woman is still in hospital in a stable condition.

The Greenslopes and Mayers Streets intersection closed for almost an hour while crews cleared the wreckage.

And authorities believe the truck crash on the Tablelands was caused by a tyre blowing out; the driver losing control and hitting several trees on Mareeba-Dimbulah Road.

The road shut for three hours on Saturday following the crash around 11 am.

The Rescue 5-10 chopper airlifting the 60-year-old passenger to Cairns Hospital - he's now in a stable condition.
