According to the CAIRNS POST - A majority of FNQ Residents want a Croc Cull.

77% of voters have said they are in favour of a cull of salties but the State Government is not convinced it is a good idea stating that a cull would give a "false sense of security to residents."

Over the past month, there have been a few croc spottings in swimming areas, with many being removed by the Department of Environment and Science.

Environment Minister Leeanne Enoch told the Post that “It does not matter how many crocodiles are removed, no waterway in crocodile country can ever be considered to be crocodile-free.”

$5.8m has been given to improving the croc management plan over the next 3 years with more wildlife officers and monitoring among the actions set to be undertaken.
