We have so many amazing local women here in the Far North and I felt incredibly blessed this morning on International Women's Day to share the microphone with them because they are all doing amazing things and have important things to say!
Entrepreneur, Social Activist, awarding winning blogger and founder of The Imperfect Mum. Kristy recently won an Australian Ausmumpreneur Award for "Making a Difference" and has been listed as one of the most clickable women in Australia by news website Mamamia. Kristy has always been very passionate about women and the issues they face. Her passion and determination has helped her carve out a career helping others and creating "a go to place" for women from all around the world. She spoke out about Mental Health.
Jordan is a successful Television Journalist who has also worked in radio.
She spoke about how women are represented in the media.
Is a woman on a mission a BIG one! Through her work with Take on Nepal she takes groups of people to volunteer in remote villages and also on the popular treks in Nepal. In September She is leading a group of Cairns Women to Everest Base Camp, who are raising money to fund the building of a library in her partners village in Nepal. They are one of the only trekking companies hiring women, and she trains and employ a large team of young women in Nepal, these women will be guiding and supporting her women's trekking group.
When I put the call out looking for women doing amazing things in our community Sarah was nominated this is what was said about her: She is truly inspiring. She gives me strength everyday to smile. Sarah bravely shares her inspiring health journey on her blog Breathing Borrowed Air where she shares her journey about living with Cystic Fibrosis after having a lifesaving Double Lung Transplant in 2013 her health issues didn’t stop there she has also battled bowel cancer she is a huge advocated for organ donation and she also mentors kids dealing with CF.
Is a local stylist who is on a mission – to make women feel good! She studied styling and consulting in Melbourne and has brought those skills with her to the Far North.
Mel recently competed in the women’s world championships for gridiron and has been asked to try out for the GC Suns AFLW.
