A sinkhole that formed at the intersection of Sheridan Street & Rutherford Street is still being repaired by Council.
The afternoon commute became utter chaos in Cairns yesterday after sinkhole formed in the intersection and car fell into it. The northbound lane affected is set to remained closed this afternoon.
A burst water main was to blame and the sinkhole has been excavated to prevent any further leaking. The hole has now been backfilled and a temporary road seal has been put on top.
Expect further delays around the area this afternoon.
