Wellington Caves Proves Fertile Ground For International Learning

Wellington Caves will be a hot spot for geology enthusiasts this month, as the University of Sydney visits on a pre-conference field trip, for the 17th International Congress of Speleology.

A group of 20 visitors, including leading cave scientists from Brazil, the Czech Republic, Germany, Israel, Norway and France, will visit Wellington on the 17th of July.

The party will view the Cathedral Cave, Garden Cave , Phosphate Mine and Anticline Cave, discussing new ideas about the origin and evolution of the landmarks.

On the same day,  Environmental Geophysics students from the University of NSW, will do some research and testing on the site, finishing up on the 21st of July.
