Narromine Man Granted Bail Following Alleged Assault

Accused Of Assaulting A Police Officer

Following an ongoing search, a Narromine man has been charged and granted conditional bail at a bed side hearing, to reappear in Dubbo Local Court, at a later date.

Police Dog Skip arrested the 33 year old man, who is accused of assaulting a female police officer last Thursday night.

Officers with the Orana Mid-Western District, and the Dog Squad, searched a number of homes yesterday morning. Upon entering a paddock, the man was sighted and decided to run.

Inspector Dan Skelly said the choice was "not a good idea, when the police officer he was running from can run a lot faster, and has more teeth."

PD Skip successfully ran the man down, holding onto him until the "two legged police" caught up and provided assistance.

The man was arrested and charged with numerous offences, including assaulting a police officer in the execution of her duty.

He was then taken to Dubbo Base Hospital and treated for some minor puncture wounds, which were consistent with a dog bite.
