Dubbo Regional Council’s Manager of Recreation and Open Space Ian McAlister said that the Kennard Park Masterplan, adopted by Council last year, got a much welcome head start thanks to the support of the NSWRL Hogs for the Homeless initiative.
“The playing field at Kennard Park is undergoing a full upgrade and will be ready for the 2018 football season,” Mr McAlister said.
“Work has already started with a water connection installed last week which has been put in place to support the installation of a new irrigation system that is currently underway,” he said.
“The next stage will be the stripping of the existing playing surface to enable the reconstruction of the base of the new field with the returfing scheduled for the 23 February,
“While the field will be closed to the public until mid - April to allow time for the surface to become fully established, and sports teams will be using alternate grounds for training,”
“While these works are consistent with the Kennard Park Master Plan, Council appreciates the support and commitment to the community from NSWRL Hogs for the Homeless whose involvement has brought forward the delivery of this project considerably,” he said.
