Fixed Wing Tankers To Continue As Part Of NSW RFS

Minister for Emergency Services and Member for Dubbo Troy Grant has announced massive fixed wing tankers will continue to be a part of the NSW Rural Fire Service's aerial arsenal against fighting major bushfires.

$38 million has been allocated to the tankers over the next four years, continuing to engage large and very large air tankers, like those nicknamed Thor and Southern Belle.

Mr Grant says over the last two fire seasons, the tankers proved their worth, flying over 130 missions on more than 50 fire grounds, dropping 6 million litres of retardant on bush and grass fires across the state.
