Member for Dubbo, Troy Grant has congratulated Dubbo businessperson Juliet Duffy who has been named the REX Airline Regional Woman of the Year at the 2018 NSW Women of the Year Awards.
Juliet received the Award for her role as founder of consultancy Regional Enviroscience and her mentorship of young female science graduates. Regional Enviroscience educates people across regional NSW on how to safely handle hazardous materials.
“I am thrilled to see Juliet recognised in the 2018 NSW Women of the Year Awards. Juliet is a valued member of the Dubbo business community, and a passionate advocate for regional commerce,” Mr Grant said.
“Regional Enviroscience is a Dubbo success story starting out in a garage in a rental property nine years ago. It now employs more than 20 people and is named in the Australian Financial Review Fast 100 list,” Mr Grant said.
Juliet has assisted councils across regional NSW to educate and protect their workers and the community on how to deal with hazardous materials. This is in addition to her mentoring role, working as Deputy Chair of the Western Research Institute and board positions with Regional Development Australia (Orana) and the Orana Arts.
Minister for Women Tanya Davies said the NSW Women of the Year Awards support the NSW Government’s commitment to building an equitable, inclusive and safe society where all women are valued and respected.
“The Awards are an important opportunity to acknowledge women who are driving societal change through their passions and purpose. Juliet Duffy is truly an inspiration to ambitious women and girls living in regional NSW. I commend her for all her achievements and look forward to seeing what she does next.”
The REX Airlines Regional Woman of the Year is one of seven NSW Women of the Year Awards announced today, with more than 14,000 people taking part in online voting.
