Council today adopted a suite of plans for the purpose of Public Exhibition which will begin this Thursday, 10 May, 2018.
Mayor of Dubbo Region Councillor Ben Shields said that it is a requirement of the Integrated Planning and Reporting framework as legislated by the NSW Government, to adopt the following suite of plans:
- Dubbo 2040 Community Strategic Plan
- 2018-2022 Delivery Program and Operational Plan
- 2018/2019 – 2021/2022 Budget and Revenue Policy
- Resourcing Strategy (inclusive of Long Term Financial Plan, Asset Management Strategy and Policy and Workforce Management Strategy).
“The Community Strategic Plan guides all the other documents, and helps Council to determine how to allocate funding to the priorities as identified by the community,”
“To this end, the 2018/2019 draft Budget and the forward budgets for 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 will also be placed on public exhibition,”
“This Public Exhibition period is extremely important because in deciding on the final Dubbo 2040 and Budget to be adopted (which will occur at the June 2018 Council meeting) Council must consider any public submissions that have been made concerning the draft Plan,” he said.
“It’s worth noting that the draft Budget as presented for 2018/2019 and forward budgets for 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 are balanced,” he said.
“Working funds are forecast to be around $2.5M with these funds providing the appropriate level of available cash to ensure that the business of Council can continue to operate without the use of overdraft facilities,” he said.
“I personally consider that the draft 2018/2019 Budget distributes the resources of the Council in accordance with priorities established for the provision of services to the community as identified in the Community Strategic Plan, and I encourage you all to take this opportunity to view the Plan and Budget and give Council your feedback,” he said.
“The various Integrated Planning documents, will be on public exhibition for a period of 28 days commencing Thursday, 10 May 2018 until 5pm on Friday 8 June 2018.
