Another First At Dubbo Base Hospital

A first for any medical practice in the Western NSW Local Health district, the Dubbo hospital can now perform a new procedure to diagnose disorders affecting the lymph nodes.

It’s the first facility in the region to utilise the Endobronchial ultrasound, which uses a flexible camera and ultra sound probe on the tip to survey the lymph nodes on the longs and take a tissue sample.

The procedure can help to diagnose lung and breast cancers, as well as tuberculosis or dust disease. Patients in regional areas no longer needing to travel to metro areas to access the service.
