Darling and Southern Downs residents not already on the electoral role only have until tomorrow to enrol to have a say in the Marriage Equality postal survey.
After two failed Senate attempts to pass a mandatory plebiscite the federal government is now conducting a postal vote on the issue.
Anyone wanting to have their say on the issue needs to be enrolled through the Australian Electoral Commission.
Depending on a high court decision the survey papers for voting could be sent out as early as September.
Maranoa MP David Littleproud says the reaction so far has been outstanding:
This is so important for anyone who has a view and everybody who is over the age of 18 should be registering themselves with Australian Electoral Commission.
This is an opportunity to have their say not only on this subject but then moving forward and having a say on the future of this nation.
So far more than 36,000 people have taken up their enrolment over the last couple of weeks, which is a significant increase in enrolments which goes to show that this is a subject that people want to have their say on.
I encourage anyone out there that isn’t enrolled to get in the AEC website immediately and register themselves.”
