We copped a bit of a beating in the weather department on Sunday, trees and powerlines down, flash flooding in areas which is why it is so important to have an emergency plan in place - we never know what is going to be thrown at us.

Emergency Services and Police were out and about in Ferrari Park, Laidley on Saturday.  It was alive with vehicles of all shapes and sizes, face painting, food and information, all with the ‘Get Ready’ message.

Emergency Services were encouraging people to learn more about disaster preparedness and making preparations for floods/bushfires and severe storms in the coming season.

Police had a Recruiting Section, the Mobile Police Facility, Cultural Advisory Unit and Crimestoppers for people to access information.

A police car was also on display with the go karts proving a hit with the kids, riders were encouraged to wear the ‘beer goggles’ to simulate the effects of drink driving.

Police would like to thank all the members of the community who attended the day and are asking the rest of the community - "Are you really storm ready?"
