Upgrade to Improve Mt Kynoch Lookout

The popular Mt Kynoch Lookout will receive an upgrade to improve safety, parking and amenities for visitors.

The lookout, which is located off the New England Highway at Mt Kynoch, is being upgraded under the Queensland Government’s $3.2 million Scenic Lookout Upgrade Program.

Main Roads and Road Safety Minister Mark Bailey said the program aims to spruce up scenic lookouts throughout the state.

Toowoomba Regional Council’s Deputy Mayor and Chair of the Infrastructure Committee Cr Carol Taylor said the project would involve the construction of a new roadway and parking bays including a disabled shared zone.

“New picnic settings and a shelter will be installed and fences will be erected around the edge of the lookout to improve pedestrian safety,” Cr Taylor said.

Construction should be completed by the end of June and Council thanks the community for their patience and co-operation during these works.
