Second Pub Closes Doors in Toowoomba This Week

Last call…

Toowoomba lost two pubs this week – it was last drinks at DeLacy’s Hotel and the Settlers Inn Hotel both owned by the Anderson family.

The CBD hotels closed within days of each other with the owners saying they "have to make hard decisions."  Speaking with The Chronicle they explained the reason for closing was simply a ‘business call’ due to the cultural shift of people drinking less, plus choosing to drink at home rather than the pub.  Adding that Toowoomba has an oversupply of pubs.

Mr Anderson said the family would now focus its efforts on the Norville Hotel and return it to its days of a leading entertainment venue with live entertainment Friday, Saturday and Sunday and a new menu planned.

The family have no plans to sell either The Settlers Inn or Delacy's Hotel properties at this stage.
