Toowoomba Regional Council will temporarily close a section of Mort Street from 8 to 22 July 2018 to upgrade the stormwater system between Thackeray Street and Hogg Street.

Council’s Deputy Mayor and Chair of the Infrastructure Committee Cr Carol Taylor said the new stormwater lines need to be installed from Hogg Street heading south along Mort Street as part of the Mort Street Upgrade Project.

“Due to the location and depth of the trenching involved, Council cannot do the works under traffic,” Cr Taylor said.

“Traffic have other options via Hogg/Holberton/North Streets or Griffiths/Ruthven/North or Jellicoe Streets.

“Local access will be maintained for northbound traffic through to Thackeray Street and also for businesses and properties in the section between Thackeray Street and Hogg Street but not for through traffic.”

Cr Taylor said significant progress had been made on upgrading Mort Street to provide a connection to the new Toowoomba Second Range Crossing.
