Toowoomba Regional Council will extend the temporary closure of Mort Street between Thackeray and Hogg Streets until Thursday, 9 August 2018 for further upgrade works.

Deputy Mayor and Chair of the Infrastructure Committee Cr Carol Taylor said complexities have arisen that have delayed the installation and backfilling of storm water junction pits.

“The extended temporary road closure will allow these works to be finalised safely and more efficiently, Cr Taylor said.

“Traffic can continue to use Hogg/Holberton/North Streets or Griffiths/Ruthven/North or Jellicoe Streets during the temporary closure.

“Local access will be maintained for northbound traffic through to Thackeray Street and also for businesses and properties in the section between Thackeray Street and Hogg Street but not for through traffic.

“Council apologises for the further delay in re-opening Mort Street and thanks businesses and the community for their patience and co-operation during these works.”
