Milne Bay Aquatic Centre’s (MBAC) indoor pools closure for scheduled maintenance will extend until the 30th July due to unexpected maintenance issues.

Community Development and Facilities portfolio leader Cr Geoff McDonald said the rectification work has turned out to be more complicated than initially planned which will delay the pool reopening to Monday the 30th July.

“Our maintenance staff have weighed up the options and the extended closure will be the best value for money alternative.

“The works involved include draining of the indoor pools for routine maintenance, deep cleaning, regrouting of tiled joints and cleaning of the air handling supply.

“MBAC’s gym, group fitness and crèche will remain open throughout the maintenance works.”

“Milne Bay Aquatic Centre is a fantastic facility that promotes healthy lifestyles in our region,” Cr McDonald said.

“Council apologises to residents for the extended closure.  These maintenance works, whilst delayed, will ensure the facility remains in great condition for years to come.”
