Milne Bay Aquatic Centre’s (MBAC) 50-metre outdoor pool will re-open in early October after some much needed maintenance.

Toowoomba Regional Council Community Development and Facilities portfolio leader Cr Geoff McDonald said the rectification work was more complex than expected which delayed the pools reopening.

The additional works were identified once the pool was emptied which unfortunately has led to the project taking longer than originally anticipated.

The good news is that once these works are completed it will extend the life of the 50 metre pool for the community to use.

The works undertaken involved draining the pool for a major refurbishment of the pools floor and centre feed line inlet water handling supply.

Council apologises to residents for the extended closure but the works were necessary and it is better they were carried now rather than in the middle of summer adding that these maintenance works will ensure the facility remains in great condition for years to come.
