Residents in Millmerran are set to put on their tool belts and work boots as they launch the first of three, 7 Day Makeover projects across the Toowoomba Region this weekend.

Toowoomba Regional Council, alongside Placemaking creative expert, David Engwicht, will be working with the Millmerran community this weekend to transform an under-used public space into a work of art.

“The level of local interest has been tremendous,” Councillor Anne Glasheen said. “We’ve had more than 80 people register to get involved in the 7 Day Makeovers across the Toowoomba region.”

Millmerran’s 7 Day Makeover starts this Saturday with a two-day planning workshop before enthusiastic local volunteers convert the public space into a community asset.

“These new spaces are being created by the community, for the community,” Cr Glasheen said. “It’s going to be a fun week for Millmerran and I encourage everyone to get involved and help create a public space that reflects the local values of their town.

“I have seen some of the previous transformations from 7 Day Makeover challenges and I am excited to see what masterpieces our communities can create,” Cr Glasheen said.

The 7 Day Makeover dates across the Toowoomba Region:

  • Millmerran: Saturday 27 May to Friday 2 June
  • Oakey: Saturday 3 June to Friday 9 June
  • Goombungee: Saturday 10 June to Friday 16 June

Residents still have the opportunity to get involved and help shape their public spaces by registering at www.tr.qld.gov.au/7daymakeover.
