A man who sustained cuts to his leg from a chainsaw accident used his belt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding while waiting for help to arrive.

On Friday afternoon the man was chopping logs when the incident occurred, injured, the man dragged himself to a quad bike then rode to his farmhouse to call for help.

LifeFlight's Toowoomba-based Surat Gas Aeromedical Service Rescue helicopter responded to the call, his injuries were treated at the farm before he was airlifted to the Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
