Man Assaulted as another Attempts to Break Into an ATM

Police are investigating the early morning assault of a 64-year-old man in Brightview yesterday morning.

The man was assaulted while he was at a tavern on Brightview Road after a man was attempting to break into an ATM.

He was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

Police are seeking assistance to locate a vehicle possibly linked to the incident and are sending a shout to the community to help locate a silver 2007 Suzuki Swift (similar to the one pictured) stolen from Stanford Place in Laidley at 4.30am the same morning.

The car has zip ties on the front left bumper and Queensland Registration 659-KDS.

Police are also seeking assistance to locate a dark coloured jacket, dark coloured pants, a pair of welding gloves and a metal bar the man may have discarded around the Brightview Tavern or in the Laidley area.

Anyone who has located any of the items are being asked not to touch them but to contact police immediately.

Investigations are continuing.
