Police have now charged five people after two stolen cars were driven wrecklessly through Toowoomba CBD before one of them crashed at Grand Central Shopping Centre yesterday morning.

A white BMW 120i and a white Volkswagen Polo were stolen during a burglary at a Geoffrey Street residence in Mount Lofty overnight Tuesday which were used in the driving spree, with the assistance of Polair, police tracked the vehicles.

The BMW was located at a Grand Central Shopping Centre after it had been involved in a minor traffic crash in the car park around 10am.

With the assistance of members of the public, police arrested four people inside the shopping centre.

No one was physically injured during the incidents.

A 32-year-old Goondiwindi woman has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle , she appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.

A 26-year-old Quilpie woman has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on September 4.

A 15-year-old Wilsonton Heights boy has been charged with three counts of burglary and three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 14-year-old Moree boy has been charged with four counts of burglary, two counts of stealing and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Overnight a red 2009 Mazda 6 which was stolen during a burglary at Middle Ridge yesterday morning was located in Glenvale.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a firearm, possessing a knife in a public place, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstruct police.

A red Isuzu DMax dual cab utility with registration 1ID8UX was stolen from an address in New South Wales and remains outstanding and investigations are continuing.

On August 14, the vehicle with Victorian registration number 11D 8UX was stolen from Moree, NSW.

This vehicle was then driven into a business premises in Goondiwindi.

Around 6.23am on August 14, a person has pumped fuel into the vehicle and then driven off  without making any attempt to pay for the fuel.

The offender is described as:

  • Aged in his early 20’s;
  • Approximately 170cms tall;
  • Slim build and hazel eyes with light brown hair.

It is believed there was a second man in the vehicle.
