The anniversary plans continue as USQ celebrates its 50th birthday as a higher education provider and 25 years as a university.

Numerous special events have already been held, including the ‘All Staff 50/25 Anniversary Celebration’ and ‘Chancellor's Morning Tea’, and more are coming up soon!

Now, the call is out for USQ’s many former staff to register their interest to attend upcoming events such as the national and international launches of the University’s anniversary coffee-table book, University of Southern Queensland: 50 Years 50 Stories.

USQ Vice-Chancellor Professor Janet Verbyla said this was among the first of a number of special community events planned across USQ’s campuses in Toowoomba, Springfield and Ipswich.

“These events give us the chance to acknowledge and say thank you to those many people who have attended, managed and guided the University since it opened its doors,” she said.

Since its first classes were taught from the outskirts of Toowoomba, USQ has grown to become a leader in its field.

From those humble beginnings, USQ has graduated close to 100 000 students over the past five decades.

“As a globally accessible university, along with our presence through the Queensland College of Wine Tourism at Stanthorpe, USQ is leading many of our metropolitan-based universities in teaching and research practices and is nationally recognised for our face-to-face and online teaching programs,” Professor Verbyla said.

To register your interest in attending upcoming events such as the University of Southern Queensland: 50 Years 50 Stories book launch, email [email protected] or phone 07 4631 2093.
