A former employee of Red Rooster in Warwick has avoided jail time for break & enter and theft.

The 18-year-old had kept the key to the store after he had been fired, using it to gain entry to the property.

CCTV footage shows the teenager deactivating the alarm and stealing approximately $8000 from the safe on Easter Monday.

Yesterday the young offended pleaded guilty to five offences, including supplying dangerous drugs, possession of a knuckle-duster, and breaking and entering a business premises.

Warwick Magistrates Court heard how he given all the money to an unnamed person to pay a $2000 drug debt and how he also  sold 10 ounces of marijuana, making $1000 over two-days.

He was sentenced to two months jail, which was wholly suspended, he was also ordered to pay $6480 restitution for the break and enter offence.
