Shine the spotlight on our inspirational residents of the Western Downs doing great things in their communities by nominating them today for the 2019 Australia Day Awards. Nominations are NOW open until midnight Wednesday 31 October, 2018.

Australia Day events will be held around the Western Downs, recognising and celebrating the achievements of residents in the following districts:

  • Chinchilla & District
  • Dalby & District
  • Jandowae & District
  • Miles & District
  • Tara & District
  • Wandoan & District

Australia Day categories for each district include:

Citizen of the Year

Awarded to a person who is at least 26 years of age as at 26th January, and who has made a selfless and outstanding contribution to the community over an extended period.

Young Citizen of the Year

Awarded to a person between the ages of 16 to 25 years as at 26th January, and who has made a selfless contribution to the community.

Senior Cultural Award

Awarded to a senior person, 18 years or over as at the 26th January, who has made a significant contribution to the community in the area of arts and culture.

Junior Cultural Award

Awarded to a junior person, 17 years and under as at the 26th January, who has made a significant contribution to the community in the area of arts and culture. 

Regional Cultural Award

Awarded to a person for their outstanding contribution to the community in the area of arts and culture over an extended period of time. 

Senior Sports Award

Awarded to a person, 18 years and over as at 26th January, for exceptional achievement in sport.

Junior Sports Award

Awarded to a person, 17 years and under as at 26th January, for exceptional achievement in sport.

Sports Administrator/Coach/Official Award

Awarded to a person who has made a significant contribution to sports through administration, coaching or in an official capacity.

Regional Sports Achievement Award

Awarded to a person for their outstanding achievement in the area of sport, and or contribution to the community through sport.  

Community Project/Event of the Year

Awarded to a community event or project that has made an outstanding contribution to the community through social, cultural or economic benefits.

Certificate of Achievement Year 12 Dux Award

To be presented to all Year 12 Dux recipients who reside in the Western Downs Regional Council area. A nomination form is to be completed for this category to be eligible for the Certificate of Achievement.

 

Nominations close midnight Wednesday 31st October 2018.
