Audition information packs are now available on the Empire Theatres website:

https://bit.ly/2DuJyVx for actors, singers, backstage singers and dancers with auditions to start from October 20 for the theatres 2019 production of "Kinky Boots."

The information pack also provides details for those interested in being involved with the backstage crew and orchestra.

The opening of auditions for this production comes with the announcement of the talented creative team, who are responsible for bringing Kinky Boots to life.

 

Leading the team as Director is Alison Vallette who was responsible for the direction of the highly successful 2017 Empire Theatres production Wicked along with recent credits including Mary Poppins (2015), Hairspray (2013), The Wizard of Oz (2012) and Cats (2009) as well as choreographing The Phantom of the Opera (2014) and Pirates of Penzance (2018).

Joining Alison as Musical Director is Shane Tooley whose previous credits include the highly popular Sweeny Todd by the Toowoomba Choral Society (2017), Les Misérables (Downlands College, 2016), Cats (Ormiston College, 2013).

Production Designer Chancie Jessop comes to Kinky Boots off the back off a run of successful projects including production design on A Salon of Larrikins Cremorne -Theatre QPAC (currently under production), design of an impressive Neverland themed entry terrace for Peter Pan at Gold Coast Performing Arts Centre in 2017 and many more. Rounding out the team as choreographer is George Canham. George has been building his dance and choreography repertoire for over ten years, and has choreographed for the past three Empire Theatres major productions.

Beginning his musical theatre career at Harvest Rain, Mr Canham has worked as Assistant Choreographer for various QPAC productions including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, and The Wizard of Oz amongst many others.

Empire Theatres General Manager Kerry Saul said he was very much looking forward to seeing the cast this creative team put together.

“We are looking for high quality talent locally and regionally, and I have no doubt our fantastic creative team will put together a stellar line-up,” Mr Saul said.

Tickets for this show, which is proudly sponsored by Heritage Bank will be on sale in coming months.
