A 71-year-old Pittsworth man is facing one charge of animal cruelty after allegedly choking a dog to death – the act has left the Pittsworth community in shock.
It's alleged that on the 8th of January the man had returned home, held the animal down by its throat and choked it to death in front of its carer.
The incident allegedly happened in broad daylight and in front of a number of onlookers.
Police have now charged the man and he is due to front a Pittsworth court on the 16th.
If found guilty he could face a three years behind bars.
