A truck driver has had a lucky escape after his B-double crashed and burst into flames at Urunga early this morning.
One southbound lane of the Pacific Highway, near Martells Road, remains closed as the wreckage is salvaged.
According to initial reports, the truck was travelling northbound towards Coffs Harbour just after 1:30am. It’s understood that the B-Double then crossed four lanes of the Pacific Highway, through wire safety barriers, before coming to rest in a gully, bursting into flames about 4km south of Urunga.
The truck was transporting a van at the time.
Fire fighters used a water tanker to extinguish the blaze.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
