New Cameras to protect State forests

Coffs state forests are now safer from bushfires, the forestry corporation hoping new measures will either catch or deter firebugs from again lighting up.

On top of the 50 cameras previously hidden through North coast state forests, a further 70 have now been installed, bringing the total number to 120.

The cameras include infra-red technology, and can take shots of those offenders as well as their number plates.

Ranger patrols have also now been ramped up, following a week of suspicious blazes following the start of the fire season.

Anyone who catches a criminal conducting suspicious activity in the area are urged to contact crimestoppers.
