Man dies after being shot by police in Grafton

A man has died after being shot by police in Grafton.

Coffs-Clarence officers are now under a critical incident investigation after discharging a taser, then shooting a knife-wielding man during a confrontation yesterday afternoon.

New South Wales Police Media reports officers gave the man first aid until paramedics arrived at the scene.

The injured man was hospitalised in a critical condition in Grafton and later transferred to Gold Coast University Hospital, where he died.

The incident will undergo an independent review.
