Another scam for people to watch out for, is attempts at gaining your financial information via phishing text messages.
An example of one of these was sent to Hit 105.5's A.B on Tuesday morning.
The ACCC defines phishing as attempts by scammers to trick you into giving out personal information such as your bank account numbers, passwords and credit card numbers.
They recommend you ignore text messages such as these and block the number, and immediately contact your financial institution if you have handed your information over to one of these.
