The tan and frocks are on this morning as gates are opening up for the 2017 Coffs Harbour Gold Cup.
The event is expected to drum up $2 million for the region’s fashion boutiques and beauty salons, as Coffs Coast residents dress to impress.
Around 7,000 punters are expected to descend on the field at Coffs Harbour Racing Club for a shot at fashion glory or making a few bucks.
The carnival's offering up about $300,000 in prize money with $80,000 of that for the Cup itself.
The favourite for the main event (Race 7) is Pelethronius, ridden by Karen McEvoy.
While in the Daniel Baker Sprint the crowd will be cheering on local gelding Free Standing, winner of this year’s Country Championships Final at Randwick.
Staff are reminding revelers to be responsible and avoid drink-driving, with a number of courtesy buses available.
