Mysterious Water Puts a Damper on Council Roundabout Project

Water from an unknown underground source has put a damper on the Orange City Council's roundabout project, delaying the works by almost two weeks.

The roundabout was set to be built at the Icely Road, Wakeford Street and Winter Street intersection in East Orange, to help ease navigation and improve safety near Canabolas Rural Technology High School.

The works were anticipated to be finished by the time school resumed for 2018, however when excavation works began, water from an unknown source began to flow into the site.

Council Crews tried to discover the source of the water, but test results returned inconclusive.

The water flow has been channeled into a nearby drain, allowing construction to continue.

The intersection will remain closed, with detours in place until the works are complete. The Council is urging drivers to leave extra time to follow detour signs.
