Rockhampton Mayor Strelow Has Been Appointed To Regional Capitals Australia Board
Recognition for regional communities
The Morning Bulletin
Last week, our Rockhampton Mayor Margaret Strelow was appointed as the Qld representative of the Regional Capitals Australia (RCA) Board at the group's annual meeting.
RCA works to narrow the divide between metro and regional areas. Mayor Strelow stated that it is important for regional capital cities to be recognised by state and federal governments for "the role that we play in providing services and support to our broader regional community".
In the same way as capital cities such as Brisbane are compensated in recognition that their services and facilities benefit the entire state, it is equally valid that Regional Capitals play a significant role in our regional communities as well.- Mayor Strelow
