Coast cops a battering

Blown Away Mother Nature Network

Wind gusts of over 70 kph have been recorded on the Central Coast today.

It was enough to bring down trees on power lines....with around 700 properties still blacked out as of 5pm around Lisarow, Holgate, Matcham, Tumbi Umbi and Mount Elliot.

At one stage there were well over 3000 customers affected locally...but issues at Copacabana and Terrigal have since been fixed.

All up, Ausgrid crews are working tonight to get power back to about 10 thousand customers along the east coast.

Warnings remain in place for strong winds and dangerous surf.

Meantime, the Palm Beach - Ettalong - Wagstaffe ferry service will divert to Patonga all weekend due to the conditions.
