UPDATE 11:30AM: Hamlyn Terrace firefighters say a fire at a Wyong house this morning highlight the need to keep matches and lighters out of reach of children at all times.

"This fire was caused by a young boy playing with a lighter in his bedroom," the Unit reported on social media. "Thankfully no one was hurt but the family lost everything."

 

EARLIER: Fire crews from Kariong, Berekely vale and the Brisbane Water duty commander are currently working to determine the cause of a fire that savaged a Wyong house this morning.

Fire and Rescue NSW reports crews got the call out to the Cutler Drive property at 8:26 this morning, finding it well alight on arrival.

It took around half an hour to extinguish the flames with hoses, the media unit confirming this hour all people inside have been accounted for and no one was injured.

Reports say paramedics assessed two people at the scene. The house has suffered severe damage.
