A man has been charged over his involvement in one of two serious car-motorcycle crashes in and around the Central Coast yesterday.

About 7am, emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway at Cowan, after reports of a crash.

Police have been told a white Holden Barina was travelling along Pacific Highway when it collided with a Triumph motorcycle.

Officers from Ku-ring-Gai Local Area Command and Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit attended and established a crime scene.

The rider, a 40-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

Following inquiries, a 29-year-old man was arrested today and taken to Gosford Police Station.

The man has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving, fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm and not keep left of dividing line.

He was refused bail to appear at Gosford Local Court on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a 46 year old woman remains in a serious condition in Royal North Shore  after her motorcycle and a car collided on the Central Coast yesterday afternoon. 

The woman suffered a serious head injury in the accident. 

CareFlight's rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked to Tumbi Umbi at 12.25pm, landing 14 minutes later at Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College near the accident scene. 

A NSW Ambulance team transferred the patient to the helicopter.

CareFlight's specialist doctor and critical care paramedic intubated the patient at  and placed her in an induced coma to stabilise her.
