A teenage boy is recovering in Gold Coast University Hospital after suffering a snake bite at Helensvale.

Paramedics were called to an address on John Dalley Drive just before 8pm on Tuesday, finding the teen had been bitten on the leg.

He was transported to hospital in a stable condition, while the species of the snake was unknown.

It comes as residents are urged to keep an eye out for snakes with almost 700 bites across Queensland this year alone.

The most commonly caught venomous snakes are eastern browns, yellow-faced whip and red belly blacks.
