Off-Duty Officer Allegedly Assaulted At Copacabana

UPDATE 1PM: A man from the Entrance has spent the night behind bars, after allegedly assaulting an off-duty police officer in Copacabana.

The 28 year old faces Gosford court today, where Brisbane Water Police will allege a neighbour spotted him in the front yard of a number of houses on Del Monte Place yesterday.

It's understood the accused then bolted and the officer gave chase, cornering him in a nearby property where the assault took place.

A resident assisted the officer in restraining the man, who it is alleged, became increasingly aggressive.

The man will front the magistrate on six charges, including common assault, assault officer in execution of duty (x2), resist officer in execution of duty, stalk/intimidate intend fear, intimidate police officer in execution of duty and with outstanding warrants.

Meanwhile, police are continuing to make inquiries in relation to four break and enters across Del Monte Place and Copacabana Drive between 9am and 6:30pm yesterday.
