Mixed Messages from Government over Warnervale Prison

Former Lake Munmorah Power Station site (2014), one of two possibly being considered to host an adult prison.

It appears members of the State Government aren't on the same page when it comes to a potential new jail for the Central Coast.

Terrigal state Liberal MP Adam Crouch has told the Express the Coast is one of 16 sites around NSW being evaluated for an adult prison.

However Parliamentary Secretary Scot MacDonald confirmed in a telephone call with Central Coast Council Administrator Ian Reynolds yesterday there are no plans for a facility locally.

However Council has now admitted to receiving an email enquiry from a local resident and Corrective Services officer in mid-2016 about vacant land parcels in the Greater Sydney area which may be suitable for a jail.
