A man has been extradited from Queensland over the alleged historical sexual assault of a young boy on NSW’s Central Coast.

Earlier this year, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad commenced an investigation following reports a young boy was sexually assaulted by a man known to him in 2009.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators from the Child Abuse Squad, The Entrance were granted an arrest warrant for a Queensland man.

With the assistance of Queensland Police Service’s Rockhampton Child Protection Investigation Unit, a 29-year-old man was arrested at Rockhampton and appeared at Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Detectives sought and were granted his extradition to NSW.

Police will allege the man sexually assaulted the boy – then aged seven – when visiting at his home.

He was formally refused bail to appear t the same court next Tuesday.
