UPDATE 4:30PM:

39 year old Buff Point Man Sayle Kenneth Newson has been refused bail and will face court again in August, charged with the murder of Carly McBride, with whom he'd been in a brief relationship before her disappearance in September 2014 from the upper Hunter town of Muswellbrook.

Police arrested Mr Newson at a San Remo address this morning, taking him to Wyong Police station, before he briefly fronted Wyong Local Court this afternoon.

Officers attached to Strike Force Karabi, formed to investigate the circumstances surrounding Ms McBride's disappearance and death (her remains were discovered in bushland near Scone last August), will allege Newson and another man known to the pair used her bank card to buy soft drinks at a McDonalds before they reported her missing.

The second man is set to be arrested in the Blue Mountains town of Lithgow later this week.

Superintendent Steve Clarke also said this morning - prior to Mr Newson's appearance - that his history with the combat sport of Muay Thai and desperation to find Ms McBride on both social media and inthe community immediately following her disappearance were considered as part of the investigation.
